maybe i got it all wrong, but i actually thought this app would also allow one to speak and the computer would write what we say. whatever. also its only in english... and i do not necessarily need my documents to be read with an english accent. to be improved.

Makes the app pretty useless for me. I know the Alex voice is still fine, but theres no French/International voices.

theres no way to export to audio formats like .mp3 in this version.. makes this app a waste of time.

I tried using Text 2 speach following scaning a book and converting OCR and pasting into text2speach (T2S). While the OLC conversion is perfect prior to pasting into T2S in T2S there are many run together sentences to fix it takes more time than reading the information……

Everytime I open the app it says Text2Speech quit unexpectedly. Click to reopen the application again. This report will be sebt to Apple autonmatically (and the lines of coding). If I try to reopen it same thing. Based on the time Ive tries Apple has about 30 complaints from me.

This helped me get through a lot of readings in university. Catching up on missed class was made so much easier with this!

doesnt work on Snow-leopard, it crashes instantly

I have Laryngitis and can barely speak. The first thing I thought when my voice started to go was there has to be an app for that, and there was. The pronunciation is near-perfect and very easy to understand. The only thing that would be awesome is if there was a key on the keyboard you could press for the program to start speaking instead of using the track pad to click the button. Besides that this app is fantastic and definitely gets the job done.

the bug fix worked out good for me. the nuissance of pasting into the speed box rather than the text box is gone. i bought the pro…it exports to mp3 nicely. …but now like someone else said, focus on the "voices" and the capacity to "read in a normal" way.

While it did require that I copy and paste my text from my word document, it is working just great.

I use this but have to cut and copy. Some PDF’s can’t cut and copy. Can’t load the PDF’s even if i can cut and copy the text. I found a far superior app but its only on iPad/iPhone and not the Mac and the eveloper has no intention of making it for the Mac. I tend to only use the other app now since it has no problem loading PDF’s. Perhaps these two should merge. Rating is for it rarely doing waht I need it to do - Reading the Text i need it to read.

This app works great for what it does. I like how the reader takes a breath but Im not sure when. At the end of a paragraph, maybe? :-) It only seems to read txt and rtf files. It would be nice if it read rtfd files (this IS a Mac app, after all) and PDF files. Also, would be real nice if it could load a bunch of files and keep reading one after the other. As far as I can see, none of these features are in the paid version; only features I do not need at the moment.

Fred is a very good reader; I also use Thomas and Nicolas extensively for readings en français. But could you update the French readers so they will be as good as Fred? the French readers speed through periods and lines without periods as if everything has to be read within a very brief time limit; while Fred pauses at every period and end of line, so his reading is much more like a normal reading and is much easier to follow. If you improve these, they will be worthy of any more expensive program.

I always use this app because it reads the words clearly and it helps me to memorize things for school because it’s being read aloud. Also I sometimes copy and paste my essays into it that way I can hear my essay read aloud. It’s an excellent tool for education!

Doesnt read any lang exept English! Needs upgrade!

I am a non-traditional student with ADHD working my way through a 2yr IT-Mobile App program. I really struggle with the assigned textbook and article readings so finding and using this app for those assignments has been a Godsend. Huge thank you to my fellow developers for putting this one out there!

So, I have been through many a system like this, but if you choose Vicki, as voice, and set to 166 (for the talking speed) it is most definetly the best (free) one I have come accross to date. Well done

I get all my long emails, and articles and copy and paste, and have it all read to me. It saves me time and energy. I love this app!!
