This application is great when you need to hear what you have written. It would be a better tool if the voices that read your text sounded more human.

I copy the text I have to read to this app, and then listen to this, instead of reading by my eyes. You know, human are kind of listening animal. It helps me a lot when I am going through studying materials.

I wasn’t sure at first. But, I find this more useful than the built in MAC READER useful for reading longer text because of the PAUSE & START AGAIN keys. - Default “Paul” Sounds Human Enough. It’s much better tan any of the others. Adjust his speed to your choice. - *** The nice thing about THIS APP is the option of “PAUSE & “RESTART. Good for longer texts. - For shorter texts I just use the built in READER on my Mac ( “CONTROL + ESC” ), but that doesn’t have a pause option. So make of that what you will. - Also, you can upload any text to the reader in similar fashon that you would upload a photo or PDF in an attachment. Very easy. Good luck. WithRespect

Voice is real enough that it doesnt bug you too bad. It is not a totally realistic voice either, but works well. I like that you can pause and restart. I would recommend to anyone. I use it for reading entire ebooks for online classes and I like that it doenst limit the number of words or characters like some of the other text to speech programs do.

The Pause/Continue feature should have been on the Mac native program anyway, so I like that with this program. Using the native voices don’t astound me either, but finding this program so that I can find more new and more human sounding voices to download helped me a lot, so I’m giving this program a higher rating than otherwise. I hoped I could have opened PDFs and some of my older MS Word files that haven’t converted over from my PPC days. oh well.

Voices could be a little more realistic. But you can find one that will suit you Im sure. I like the pause / start feather. Would reccomend.

the voice features sound really bad i dont recomend this app

Im on youtube but Im disabled with a speech problem so this text 2 speech software makes it alot better for my videos so thanks text 2 speech.

I like that you can change the speed of the voice and it isn’t OVERLY robotic, but it force closes every time I have text loaded and try to change the speed

I really enjoy this application. Its extremely easy to use and use it everyday to have text books read to me. I wish there were a few more voices to adjust for different kinds of reading. The import option works very well, although several formats will not import. Every time I have done so only once I have not had any immediate issues.

It’s an annoying robot voice … but you get over that quickly . Can’t pronounce a very tiny percentage of words . Doesn’t hinder comprehension of material. Following along does help . If you’re too lazy to find another text to speech app or don’t wanna spend money on a better sounding one this one just fine . Stop looking .

I’ve tried several text-to-speech applications and none of them that are free have good voice options like this application does. My favorite voice is Karen because it sounds most natural. It doesn’t sound as monotoned or robotic as most other voices. The voices are very smooth and easy to listen to. I like using text-to-speech applications when I have to do long tedious readings for classes because I have a very short attention span and I can’t stay focused on an article if it bores me. Great app!

This is the lamest app that Ive seen yet. The voices arent any better than the standard ones on the mac. Not worth even trying it out. Im sorry that I wasted my time on it.

For a free app, it’s pretty amazing. The voice is a lot better than I anticipated, and it feels like the app knows when to pause and to take a breath. o_O Weird but amazing. Looking forward to great things in future updates!

I am currently getting my master’s degree and it has not been an easy ride up to this point. I have A.D.D. and struggle every day to keep focus when reading my textbooks. Over the past couple of years I have switched from physical textbooks to ebooks (i.e., Kindle, Thuze, Chegg, etc.). Being able to copy and paste my textbook into a reading app has been my goal for some time and it can be VERY frustrating when my iPad or iPhone doesn’t want it to happen (I have an app on my iPhone/iPad called Speaky and it doesn’t want to import the text sometimes…). This allows me to just copy and paste a few pages and let it read to me and I go through my chapters (while retaining the knowledge) in a flash. If you are a student with trouble focusing, I highly suggest this. Also, if you have physical books, it WILL be a pain to try to get the text into a form that you can have something read it to you (albeit, it IS possible with OCR apps and the like; just not easy). If you want to go down this path, I suggest to start the switch to ebooks. Another path you might want to go down is quick reading apps (e.g., Flash Reader). They’re not for eveyone but good for right before exams when you want to cram your notes into your brain in five minutes haha GREAT APP, I don’t leave reviews unless it’s terrible or absolutely amazing and this app exceeds my expectations. I am pretty sure I will buy the PRO version.

This app is a must-have for students, or anyone else who struggles with ADD/ADHD.

This app has been really helpful in my studies. I am glad that is free but even if it wasnt I would invest. This helps me stay on task with homework. (at times I have to do so much research) so this app allows me to follow along! Also with my papers it allows me to hear and review for content and fluidity!!

Why waste peope’s time? I’d like to know at the beginning if I will be able to use this.
